About Us
Morph architects pty ltd, is a Sydney based architectural practice located on the Northern Beaches specialising in sustainable architecture and design.
Emphasis is put on understanding the clients brief, distilling it into a core idea and developing the design around that idea to fulfil the clients requirements and aspirations. Finding inspiration in the clients brief, we find, is the foundation for creating unique and culturally relevant designs.
STEVEN KENESSEY
Steven Kenessey started his architectural training by working on building sites during school holidays from the age of 8. He studied architecture at the University of NSW were his most noted achievements include being awarded high distinctions for his two final designs, the last of which was selected to be displayed by the NSW chapter of the Royal Institute of Architects along with designs from other universities in NSW.

Whilst still a student he worked on the design development of a proposed hotel at Cambells Cove in Sydney for a limited design competition.
After graduating he worked for Anchor Mortlock Wooley on the ABC center at Ultimo.
Shortly after he established his practice in Sydney. His work has been published in Vogue Living, Architecture Australia, Inside magazine, and twice in the Sydney Morning Herald.
His first architectural interior (Café Sante, Neutral Bay) was noticed perchance by Leo Scofield who stated in an article in the Sydney Morning Herald that , “The Place has a feeling of real unity: of décor and atmosphere and food all being in total harmony”.
He has been commissioned to design more than 140 architectural projects.
Steven founded Morphlight Pty Ltd (1992 to 2015), which specialised in the design and supply of energy-efficient lighting systems.
Notable projects:
Chatswood Chase - 4m up lit domes, Melbourne Airport - linear lighting systems, NSW Supreme and Federal Courts -main lighting system to courtrooms, various Westfield malls and a number of projects in Hong Kong, China, Germany, and Holland.
In 2003 Steven invented a renewable energy system called the "Biotower" The invention was centred on the production of electricity from the waste heat generated by tall towers in combination with waste organic matter and surrounding airflow. Steven was awarded a patent for the invention by the Chinese patent office.
In recent years Steven has focused on integrating solar energy with architecture. He installed 3 off-grid solar installations in order to gain hands-on experience and has designed and built a solar battery using the most advanced, durable and safe lithium cells available, capable of lasting 25 years and completing 25 000 cycles. He powers his house with this battery.
In 2020, after extensive research, Steven submitted a provisional patent for a solar roofing system incorporating the latest developments in double glass, frameless PV modules.

Giving form to your vision.
The process starts with the client’s brief from which the functions and budget are determined and their vision crystallized into an idea. This central idea unifies and gives integrity to the design. The built environment tells a story about who we are. Our job is to tell your story.
